Pats Comment: Brownsville has 2 fire companies North side and South Side. These people are the best. Nobody gets paid, but they cover every kind of problems that you can imagine and then some. They cover every wreck in town and the outskirts of Brownsville. The Police don't have a full force so they aren't there on many occasions. Boat accidents or drownings they are there. Fires of all kinds along with any catastrophic disasters. If the power goes down in Brownsville they man the street lights. Plus they are backup for just about anyplace. Two years ago they took over the boat ride (The Gateway Clipper from Pittsburgh) because the Chamber of Commerce was on the verge of not having it. This was the Tuesday before Kennywood. They raise almost all their money by themselves. I will be putting up the South Side shortly, I know their responds are up there also. Also Hiller has a Volunteer Fire Department.
